The common raven, for there are many types, is a large sleek, all-black bird. Ravens are in the same genus as crows, but are distinctly different species. Ravens are much larger than crows and they tend to soar in flight unlike the crow which is an active flyer. Ravens are highly intelligent; although debatable, some people even rate their intelligence on par with chimpanzees and dolphins.
